Services

Monthly Meetings- A forum for families to discuss, share, suggest, educate, and help each other based on their own experiences and knowledge. The Parents, teens and siblings meetings are on the 2nd Monday of the month. All meetings start at 6:00 pm and end at 7:30pm.

UPWords- A free newsletter keeping our families informed and connected. The newsletter contains meeting schedules, resource information, programs and articles on a variety of topics. We can deliver by snail or email.

UP Library- This library contains over 400 books and tapes that are available for one week rental at no charge to our families and professionals at no charge. The library is now located in our new facility.

FAST  is a solution oriented service designed to work with the family and Behavioral Health therapist to help families who are stuck in a pattern that is damaging to the family. If you would like this service in your home contact your VCBH therapist.

Respite- Professional child care for clients of VCBH who are under 18. This program provides temporary and specialized care to children with behavioral disorders.  Trained workers stay with the child or take them on community outings in order to develop social skills.

Foster Respite- Professional child care for foster children aged 0-5. This program provides in home care to foster families by trained and screened workers.

Parent Workshops- United Parents provides specialized parent workshops for our families who need a little extra help. We are presently providing Dr. Thomas Phelan's 123 Magic and Surviving Your Adolescents to our families on a rotating monthly basis. Please call to sign up for the next available class.

Carpe Diem- In March United Parents in conjunction with Ventura County Behavioral Health, Ventura County Superintendent of Schools, Jewish Family Services and the SELPA co-sponsors an annual conference on working with children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral challenges for parents and professionals from around the country.

Educational Advocacy- Children with emotional, mental or behavioral disorders sometimes require specific educational services in order to receive a "free and appropriate education". We provide educational advocates to work collaboratively with local school and agency staff. We are not attorneys but participate in on-going trainings and conferences to stay current with legislation and changes in procedures.
