  • Respite Care Provider

    Respite Care Provider


    Summary:

    The Respite Provider provides a break to caregivers (parents, grandparents, foster parents) of children with challenging behaviors. Families receive up to 10 hours per month of respite care for each child. Workers may have more than one child. Two positions will cover East County and the other position will cover Oxnard/Ventura area.


    Essential Functions:

    • Provide in-home or community based activities to child or youth in East Ventura

    County (Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park and/or Moorpark) and also

    Oxnard/Ventura

    • Be a positive role model at all times

    • Responsible in maintaining timesheets and mileage forms for each respite care visit

    • Responsible for maintaining correspondence with the Respite Care Program Manager

    and child’s parents/guardians in a courteous and timely manner


    Minimum Requirements:

    • Responsible

    • Bodily Injury Liability to 50,000 per person & 100,000 per accident

    • Professional, reliable

    • Compassionate

    • Must love children and be patient

    • Able to attend trainings as required

    • Able to work weekends

    • Additional requirements: Reliable transportation, Pass Live scan/Background Check,

    TB Test and possess valid California Driver’s License


    Desired Qualifications:

    • Interest or education in Social Work, Psychology, Education, or Special Education

    • Education or experience working with special needs children and their families

    • Knowledge and comfort working with children with mental health, emotional and

    behavioral disorders

    • Bilingual a plus

  • LCSW or LMFT Program Administrator/Medi-Cal Billing Expert

    LCSW or LMFT Program Administrator/Medi-Cal Billing Expert (Part-Time)


    A well-established Ventura County based Non-Profit Organization is seeking a highly experienced LCSW or LMFT who will partner with the current program administrator to oversee their current parent partner (FAST) program as well as utilize their in-depth experience to support an adjunct program which requires in depth Medi-Cal billing experience. 


    The FAST Program is an innovative, short-term approach designed to help families with children with mental, emotional, and/or behavioral challenges overcome problems which can result in a crisis. In partnership with Ventura County Behavioral Health (VCBH), United Parents utilizes a Parent Partner intervention model. A Parent Partner has raised a child with behavioral disorder and combines their own life experience with ongoing training to help highly stressed families.  


    The dynamic person being sought has outstanding supervisory skills and understands the importance of mentoring and supporting staff through change/growth, is highly organized and meticulous in detail work, has outstanding computer skills, is knowledgeable around California’s Peer Certification, and is bilingual in Spanish.  This person will be working with 5 out of the 10 FAST staff on Medi-Cal implementation, reviewing notes within an electronic database, providing training as needed, and working with other agency staff throughout the process.


    Excellent writing skills, clinical knowledge of child/family dynamics and expertise in childhood trauma.  The organization seeks something with a passion for new challenges and the experience and confidence to succeed.


    Essential Duties & Responsibilities for FAST/Medi-Cal:

    • Supports the current clinical/program administrator with managing the day to day operational aspects of the FAST program to include scheduling, staffing, training, direct services and other administrative duties.

    • Provides leadership in the areas of clinical and program services, program evaluation, program development and training.

    • Designs, implements, and manages evidence-based services (program assessment, parent education, staff training, support groups, etc.)

    • Oversees the activities of their team of Parent Partners (5) to ensure that the program is implemented and evaluated effectively

    • Supervision of assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of clients served by agency.

    • Builds relationships with para-professional staff, parents, community partners, clinicians and other community members and professionals.

    • Provides direct clinical services, supervision and consultative services.

    • Supervises collection and input of all client and cost data necessary to evaluate client outcome and cost benefit as Medi-Cal billing rolls out.  This may include reviewing of charts and ensuring that client’s documentation is completed in a timely manner; compiling and preparing reports on clients served and treatment outcomes.

    • Partners with current clinical/program administrator on the coordination and collaboration with County and community systems, including VCBH fiscal.

    • Partners with current clinical/program administrator on the recruitment, hiring, training and supervision of staff, as required. This includes setting staff performance standards within the scope of expertise, evaluating employee performance and taking disciplinary actions as needed.

    • Works as a team member and reports all matters of concerns to the Executive Director.

    • Continually train and enforce protocols regarding mandated reporting (child abuse and neglect)

    • Attends meetings, events and seminars as required by United Parents.

    • Maintains advanced working knowledge of early childhood education and development practices and standards, and principles of applied behavioral analysis, cognitive behavioral therapy.

    • Consistently demonstrates a high level of integrity, responsibility, accountability, teamwork and ethics.

    • Adheres to all policies, procedures, and standard practices of United Parents.

    • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


    Education, Training and Experience  Requirements:

    Considerable and progressively responsible behavioral health experience which has led to the acquisition of the required knowledge and abilities.

    • Master’s Degree in Social Work or Marriage and Family Therapy 

    • License required – LCSW or LMFT

    • 5 to 10 years of experience working with children and/or families with serious mental health issues

    • Experience monitoring and reporting on team performance including electronic health records, client outcome goals, productivity, expenditures, and revenue.

    • Experience working with seriously mentally ill youth and their parents.

    • Bilingual (Spanish) 


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  Thorough knowledge of health assessment, treatment, and case management practices as well as staff supervision and personnel practices.

    Comprehensive ability to:  supervise a multi-disciplinary team and provide clinical oversight in a behavioral health program, including program development; diagnose and treat personals with severe mental illness; utilize personal computing hardware and software; prepare reports; maintain medical record standards, working independently toward specific goals; provide active and positive leadership; develop community resources; work within budget constraints; respond effectively to crisis; effectively handle persons who are angry, demanding, emotionally upset and/or reluctant to receive help; evaluate safety and risk factors for staff and clients, maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, community members and other governmental agencies, and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.


    Benefits/Compensation: 

    This is a part-time exempt position with compensation at $41.00/hour

    Now Hiring: Bilingual Full-Time Parent Partner 

    Job Description

    Summary: 

    We are seeking parents or caregivers who have been successful in raising a child with emotional, behavioral or mental health needs, preferably that have been involved with the behavioral health, special education, juvenile justice, and/or child welfare system. The Parent Partner will work with parents of children referred by Ventura County Behavioral Health by providing in-home support, education, and resources with the goal of maintaining stability in the home and empowering parents to be their child’s best advocate. 


    Essential Functions:

    • Work with Ventura County Behavioral Health clinicians toward treatment goals 

    • Attend numerous training classes, as required

    • Provide home and clinic based support and education

    • Sensitivity to cultural, ethnic and economic diversity

    • Willingness to learn and work within systems' protocols 

    • Model behavior and techniques families can learn from

    • Identify and utilize family strengths  

    • Identify community supports and provide a warm connection

    • Brainstorm new ideas and approaches

    • Ensure the family voice is heard

    • Assist family in creating and following a safety plan

    • Responsible for maintaining accurate client notes and other paperwork in a timely fashion

    • Help family to navigate the crisis management and stabilization programs and access services/programs that will be of help

    • May work remotely to input progress notes

    • Other duties as may be assigned

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities:


    • Must have personal involvement and success in raising a child with emotional, behavioral or mental health needs (may be a parent, grandparent, guardian or sibling)

    • Familiarity and experience with Medi-Cal documentation and billing desired

    • Ability to document data within multiple electronic systems

    • Knowledge of mental health, juvenile justice, special education, and child welfare systems and local community resources

    • Ability to prioritize deadlines and complete tasks in a timely manner 

    • Able to listen non-judgmentally and respect family culture and beliefs

    • Able to share your own story when it can help the family

    • Able to advocate in a non-adversarial manner

    • Able to maintain confidentiality at all times 

    • Able to follow directions and follow-up on assignments as required

    Job Requirements:


    • Must be able to sit for long periods of time

    • Be able to effectively manage a caseload of 20-25 clients

    • Able to lift up to 20 pounds

    • Additional requirements: Reliable transportation, Pass Livescan/Background Check, TB Test and possess valid California Driver’s License, proof of eligibility to work in the United States

    • Ability to become CPR/First Aid Certified

    • Reliable transportation and current auto insurance with Bodily Injury Liability to 50/100 bodily injury coverage

(please note that once Medi-Cal billing begins on July 1, 2024, compensation for this position will increase to $24.00/hour)
